Applying for a unique Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a simple, applicant-friendly process outlined in the steps below:
Visit any Tax Authority office nearest to you and obtain the relevant application form. I obtained my Tax Identification Number (TIN) at Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and it was free
Complete the application form and return to the Tax Authority with valid proof of identity such as Driver’s License, International Passport, Utility bill or any other similar valid document. For individuals, you need to submit your application letter and for companies, you need to submit your Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate.
Provide required biometric information.
Upon confirmation, a card will be issued to you on the spot.
The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is issued FREE OF CHARGE.
Available at the offices of the Joint Tax Board (JTB), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and State Boards of Internal Revenue (SBIR).
